If you have an important manuscript in your collection that you would like to reproduce, Addison Publications can provide a full service to suit a variety of budgets and deadlines.

The team that brought you the Domesday Book and The Highgrove Florilegium are experts in handling ancient and valuable manuscripts and works on paper. We can both advise on the correct way to produce a facsimile and oversee the entire production with our broad network of the best traditional book craftsmen in the country comprising designers, conservators, papermakers, paper marblers, binders, embossers, photographers, tanneries and printers.

Your rare and valuable manuscript is likely to be both ancient and delicate and may therefore need to undergo conservation before it is unbound for photographing. At our initial consultation we would ascertain this need and ensure that the manuscript is stabilized before any further handling. Typically we would undertake extensive research during the first consultations to ensure that reproduction design was faithful to the original's period and geographical origins. We would talk to both designers and binders to choose the correct design, layout and colour scheme. We oversee the printing process to ensure the exact colours are reproduced so that you can compare the original and the reproduction side by side and struggle to spot the difference.

Overall, our experience in producing facsimiles of both ancient and contemporary works and knowledge of the most experienced and talented craftsmen in the country, means that you can trust us to make a magnificent publication. Do give us a call if you would like to discuss your manuscript, we would love to hear from you.

‘A sumptuous, colourful production, a work of art in its own right‘
Tim Richardson, Financial Times on The Highgrove Florilegium

‘This Remarkable facsimile is so close to the original that to most people is impossible to tell the difference’

Lord Hailsham at the presentation of the first copy of the Domesday that now rests in the Royal Library at Windsor Castle.
