Royal Manuscripts: The Genius of Illumination at the British Library

Discover the British Library’s unique collection of medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts. Collected by the kings and queens of England over 800 years, these treasures are outstanding examples of the decorative and figurative painting of the era. Amongst other manuscripts in this superb new exhibition is the Bedford Book of Hours, of which a limited edition facsimile bound in red velvet is available to purchase from Addison Publications. The Highgrove Florilegium at the Chicago Botanic Gardens

The Highgrove Florilegium is housed in the Lenhardt Library's Rare Book Reading Room in the Regenstein Center and is available for viewing by appointment. Only two other copies are available in libraries in the United States. The volumes will also be on public display in a rare book exhibition in the Lenhardt Library from Nov. 18th 2011 to Feb. 12th 2012.
